Hurricane Youth Wrestling is dedicated to developing future Hurricane Middle and High School wrestlers. The program is comprised of Hurricane School District children ages 4-12. The program competes as part of the Mason County Youth Wrestling League (MCYWL) and is also a member of the West Virginia Youth Wrestling Association.
- MCYWL Season runs January – March each year
- Some Hurricane wrestlers may compete on a limited basis outside of the MCYWL schedule
- Practices are two days per week January – March for 1.5 hours each
- Fees: $85 per wrestler or $100 total for more than 1 wrestler from the same family
- Most matches are on Saturdays during the months of January – March, however there are a few weeknight matches throughout the season
- League matches take place at various schools throughout Putnam, Cabell and Mason Counties, and Gallia and Lawrence County, OH.
The Hurricane Youth Wrestling program is not a ‘win at all costs’ program. Our philosophy is to provide youth wrestlers a solid base of fundamental skills which will serve them throughout their wrestling career. We encourage them to have fun and want them to taste success while introducing them to a wonderful sport.
